Casualties

Over two and a half million British soldiers were wounded or killed in the First World War. Not all deaths occurred on the battle field, however: many died of wounds in the following hours, days, weeks, months and years. Documents in this section show what this meant to individual soldiers.

This section is divided between The Wounded and The Last Call.
