At last there seems a probability of our

seeing the last of the plague in Poona.

The rate of mortality has been steadily

decreasing, and very few cases were

discovered by the Troops this week.

Plague duty must be a tedious job, at

the best of times and the one bright spot

in it, apart from the "work of love" (so

ably and aptly described by our special

correspondent at Parvati,) would seem to

be the extra emoluments derived therefrom

Commonly known as the paisa.
