Coronavirus update

Search room still closed until further notice but we are answering email enquiries

Our search room closed on Wednesday 18 March and remains closed until further notice as part of Durham County Council's response to government guidance on Coronavirus.

If you have enquiries while we are closed please email us.

Please do not pay for research or quick search services via our online shop before emailing to check whether we are able to process your request.

Family history courses and Third Thursday talks have been cancelled or postponed until further notice. People who bought tickets for family history courses have been contacted to arrange refunds.

We hope to re-run cancelled Record Office events at a later date whenever possible.

On 18 March 2020 Durham County Council announced that all council venues, leisure centres and libraries would shut from the end of the day until further notice.
