First printed in Brussels in March 1945, Soldier was the Britsh Army's own magazine. This is the front cover of the Victory Souvenir edition published on 8 May 1945.

'Soldier': The British Army Magazine, VE Day 8 May 1945 (D/DLI 12/4/4/21).

Inside is a special poem written by the poet and author Edmund Blunden (1896-1974), who had fought during the Great War and had been awarded the Military Cross in 1917 for his bravery.: 

'That tyranny's overpast; once more we have come through.'
