Formerly an ancient parish in the Diocese of Durham, it became part of the Diocese of Newcastle in 1990.

The original registers are deposited at the Northumberland Record Office, Morpeth Records Centre, The Kylins, Loansdean, Morpeth, Northumberland, NE61 2EQ, UK.
