Church of England Parishes

Church of England Parishes Register Index

This section lists all of the Church of England parishes in County Durham.

It includes:

  • Parishes in the diocese of Durham - the area between the rivers Tyne and Tees including some areas not in the present county. For example, Sunderland and Billingham.
  • Parishes in the dioceses of Ripon and Newcastle, if the parish is in the present county of Durham. For example, Romaldkirk (Ripon) and Edmundbyers (Newcastle).

For each parish there is information on its location (including a map) and the availability of parish registers and indexes.
